how does the registry work?

I already know how it works, just take me there!

When we thought about what kind of wedding we wanted, and what we wanted the day to represent, we both agreed that more than anything else we wanted it to be about celebrating this important event with our families and friends. We also wanted to acknowledge that help with the wedding preparations and day-of craziness is the gift that we will need the most, while realizing that not everyone wants to or can participate in this way. Finally, we want to support our local economy whenever possible. However, nearly all the wedding registries we looked at only had options for mass-produced online or store-bought items and not the local goods and time, skill or service contributions we really need. Finally, we found a registry that has both! Here's how to use it:

1. Go to the following link: http://www.thethingsiwant.com/roxy6c/list/yayforweddings!/.

You should see my name and a password prompt. The password is the month of our wedding (august, no caps). There's even a hint in case you forget.

2. The site has pretty good instructions on how to navigate the list. Some things you can purchase online, and some things you have to purchase in-store. Regardless of the purchase method, you can mark any gift as "reserved" so that no one else will get it. If you find an in-store item but are not local, please contact my mother and she will help you with the purchase.
